The wine

This cuvée has been with me since I started making wine. It was my first love affair with the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation. Produced from old vines of Melon de Bourgogne on southwest-facing slopes, it demonstrates not only how wonderful this grape variety is, but also the greatness of this appellation and its potential. The nose is fabulous, mineral, with flint, citrus and a beautiful salinity that reminds you that the ocean is not far away. The palate follows a straight and infinite path, crystalline, slender and complex, blending minerality with citrus fruit and iodized sea spray. As you can see, this is a top-flight Muscadet, which should be accompanied as it should be! Scampi tartar with citrus zest, sashimi, shellfish, scallop carpaccio, and so much more...

The estate

Avant gardiste, Domaine de l'ecu has been certified organic since 1975 and Biodynamic since 1998 (Demeter) on all its 24 hectares. They have also been Biodyvin-certified since 2014. Claire and Fred Niger renounce all cellar gimmicks to combat wine standardization and reinforce the link between a cuvée and its terroir. Natural vinification, minimal sulfites, in short, wines without fuss or make-up! Two well-known winemakers who make the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation shine with their sparkling whites!
