The wine
The "Pierre" cuvée from Domaine Fons Sanatis is made from old Syrah vines in the communes of Puechabon and Aniane. Its name is a thank-you to Pierre, a friend who granted him these vines, without whom Benoît would never have had Syrah in Languedoc. At the same time, it's a tribute to his grandfather Pierre, who taught him to remain humble in the face of nature, which will always surprise us. These vines, with their deep, chalky soil and organic viticulture methods, are quite simply magnificent, producing a Dantesque juice. A Syrah magnified by Benoît Braujou, delicately infused, with incredible finesse and a bewitching perfume of violets, unaltered by tank ageing. One of the finest Syrahs in the Languedoc!
The estate
A great-grandfather a cooper, a grandfather with 200 beehives and vines, a father a winemaker, Benoît Braujou has always lived among the vines, in the village of Saint jean de Fos, near the Hérault river, today the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. With and thanks to his father, he bought his first plots of land, deciding to settle in the cradle of his childhood, close to his family, after gaining valuable experience with other winemakers in Alsace, and with Yves Cuilleron in Côte-Rôtie. Armed with his new knowledge, the adventure began, and Domaine Fons Sanatis was born. Like his father, he refuses to use chemicals in his vineyards, preferring to use his eyes and attention to strengthen the vines and enable them to fight and flourish healthily. He vinifies in concrete and stainless-steel vats, with a short spell in foudre for some of his red wines. These wines are sincere, honest, generous and straightforward, just like the winemaker!
